(Burn Fresno) Today six lawsuits were launched against Greyhound for the incident last weekend in the Tower District/McKinley and 99 that left 6 people dead. The car was all black and had been turned over in the road by the driver, who was legally drunk. The taxi driver (who the CHP has said is the best witness) said it would have been impossible for the bus to avoid and that the driver paid with the ultimate price: his life. The cab driver also mentioned he was in the lane moments earlier and would have hit th Greyhound himself if he had not chosen to switch lanes out of pure coincidence.

My opinion: the drunken female driver was at fault and if anyone faces the suit it should be the person or restaurant that served her the alcohol, being that she was not 21.

(Burn Fresno) Today Arizona and Jan Brewer will try to appeal a Federal Judges’ decision to not allow the most controversial parts of the bill to move forward. Arizona has been suffering economically since they began the implementation of the bill due to massive boycotts by organizations of all shapes and sizes. Conventions have been moved out of Phoenix, the Phoenix Suns wore “Los Suns” Jerseys and overall a lot of the US has seen this bill for what it really is – a racist and reactionary ploy to further degrade the socioeconomic status of Hispanics in the United States.

Here’s to hoping this appeal doesn’t even make it off of the ground.

(Burn Fresno) – A new hot dog restaurant has opened in the Tower District in Downtown Fresno. Tower Dogs offers a large variety of hot dogs with some interesting menu options you wouldn’t normally expect to find in a hot dog shop.

Their $5 Chili Dog Special is a great deal as it comes with a big soda and chips (they have a lot of options here too).

The dogs start at just a few bucks and I’ve been having lunch there more than I care to admit since they opened. It’s probably the best cheap lunch in the area.

Oh, and the best part… they’re open until 3am on Friday and Saturday!

(Burn Fresno) – Today Fresno County Sheriff Margaret Mims announced the county would begin attempting to shut down medicinal marijuana dispensaries that are legal under state law. The dispensaries targeted this time are located in Friant, CA, North of Fresno near Millerton lake. Three Medical Marijuana dispensaries have opened here and already the town has seen some amazing aesthetic improvements. They serve the truly sick and disabled in the foothill and mountain region who would not normally be able to travel the great distances to other Medical establishments.

Friant is already experiencing an increase in their economy due to these Medical Marijuana Dispensaries – a welcome change for a town that has looked like a dump for the better part of 30 years. These dispensaries may be the Town of Friant’s only chance to make a name for itself other than that of a gas station and mobile home park.

Recently the City of Fresno outlawed the dispensaries by changing the zoning laws and deeming them “dangerous’. Only one problem – Medical Marijuana Dispensaries pose no additional criminal danger to anyone; and as a matter of fact actually take some money away from criminals.

While her stance may seem ignorant or heroic to most depending on personal beliefs, this actually has nothing to do with Marijuana.

It’s a well-known fact that Fresno County Sheriff Margaret Mims has done a HORRIBLE job balancing her budget. Leaving the Fresno Police Department to patrol county islands. She’s also had to lay off a number of correctional workers at the County Jail, resulting in the early release of inmates facing a plethora of charges.

Last week it was revealed a Sheriff in Shasta County has been doing something similar – skimping on the duties the Sheriff’s Department should be happening, while instead going after Federal Anti-Drug Obama Stimulus money by busting Medical Marijuana Dispensaries and grows.

So now, Margaret Mims is attacking the sick and disabled here in Fresno County by going after Medical Dispensaries – despite the fact that marijuana is the only pain relief for people who are tolerant to normal pain killers and therapies.

Fresno County Sheriff Margaret Mims needs to be fired. Not only is she more fiscally irresponsible and air-headed than Ashley Swearengin and Jerry Dyer (hard to believe I know), but she is risking the publics’ safety to save her own butt.

Just know that this summer, when the street lights are off on your block and no one is patrolling your methamphetamine and Oxycontin-ridden neighborhood, it’s because Margaret Mims is parading around with ATV’s and automatic weapons in the foothills trying to shutdown Medical establishments.
